토론토 시는 빠르면 수요일부터 새로운 카메라를 설치하는 ASE(Automated Speed Enforcement) 프로그램을 확대하고 있다.

 

확장은 각 병동당 하나씩 도시 전체에 25개의 새로운 카메라를 의미한다. 최신 장치는 과속을 줄이기 위해 현재 회전 중인 다른 50개 장치에 합류할 것이다.

 

11월 초부터 새로운 위치에 경고 표지판이 설치되었다. 카메라가 온라인 상태가 되기 전에 90일 동안 표지판이 있어야 하며, 시는 2022년 11월 2일에 경고를 게시하기 시작했다.

Algonquin Avenue 남쪽의 Parkside Drive에 있는 카메라는 지난 가을에 회전하지 않은 유일한 장치였다. 시에서 제공한 마지막 데이터에 따르면 해당 카메라만 전체 티켓의 약 10%를 차지했다고 한다.

 

지난 10월 치명적인 충돌 사고 이후 Parkside Drive 구간의 안전을 개선하라는 요구가 있었으며, 주민들은 오랫동안 사진 레이더와 도로 재설계를 요구해 왔다.

 

작년 8월과 9월에 시의 자동 속도 단속 프로그램은 전체적으로 48,000개 이상의 티켓을 발부했다. 가장 빈번한 반복 위반자는 애들레이드 남쪽의 Brant Street에서 과속으로 12번 적발되었다.
